Here's a site I'm currently working on:
Wall Wonders (http://rgm.thebrambles.biz/wallwonders)
Please let me know what you think.

Very nice and clean.....I just feel the text links are to big, but I also believe this will look good when finished

The logo doesn't seem to match the art that is in the header. I assume the art is a sample of what she does. If so I would probably suggest changing the logo. I think the logo looks good but it just doesn't seem to match the art.
What about getting her to paint the name and then may vectorize it or something to get a good logo.
I think you have too many colours for the site design, I would get rid of one or two of them, more colour doesn't always make things better. Bringing in some kind of wall texture/finish to the block behind the menu might add something as well.

I agree that the logo doesn't fit right. I also think it's too big, along with the menu down the left. With a small number of menu items like that, I'd be more inclined to place the links along the top, as tabs or something.
Also, the rounded corner looks out of place at the bottom of the menu, however, that might be a problem with the way it's rendered in my browser, Checked it in IE 6 yet?

I made the navigation on the the larger side mainly because there isn't much content so I needed to use up some white space. But your right, they might have to be scaled down somewhat.

I agree it needs a better logo, but the woman doesn't currently have a logo that she uses and even stranger, she doesn't seem to want one! So...what can ya do? My goal was to create a logotype that would be visually interesting and stand up on it's own without a graphic element to accompany it. Do you have any suggestions on how to change it to match the art keeping this in mind? And yes, the shrooms were scanned from a photo of her work.

I'm not sure if I agree that there are too many colors, but I'll play around with adding fewer and see what results I get. :) Also, I was going for a wall texture with the scratchy stuff at the bottom. Is it too subtle?

Hmm, I do like the idea of the tabs...
That's weird, stupid IE! I swear it wasn't like that the last time I checked. Something must have gone wonky. Those tabs are sounding better and better!
Thanks for the comments guys! :D

Yeah I actually missed the texture at the bottom.
I have had a few client who don't want logos as well.
I would go with a Script font like Zapfino, a script would work well with here art style. Zapfino is an opentype font and has 3-5 variations for each character so you can really customize the text. If mushrooms are typical of here work then I would include them in the logo, if they are not then don't. It would be nice to have soem kind of graphical element in the logo, like something she has painted, but if she deosn't want a logo to begin with then maybe a graphical element could be added at a later time.
For the logo I would be looking for something that would make me think of her work or symbolize her work, so when I look at it I get an idea of her work. Right now when I look at the logo I think of wide stripes with strong contrast not delicate little mushrooms and stuff.
By the colours I was mainly thinking about the 2 red/browns and the orange at the bottom. There is no real reason I can see to have 3 very similar colours in addition to the tan and green text.

I will try out the Zapfino font or something similar!
Btw, I still didn't get what colors you're talking about. What green text?

Um the body text looks dark green on my monitor, maybe it's the slight tint to the background that makes it look like that though. It looks different compared to the logo at the top.
Maybe I'm just getting old :(

Actually, I guess it is dark green #003333; my bad! It just looks dark grey on my monitor.
I'm working on a new mockup now, so I hope your happy! :cheeky:
I realized I wasn't all that happy with what I did and I'm not sure the mushrooms were the right thing to represent "Wall Wonders" as a whole. So I'm experimenting with something a little different.

I thought the layout as a whole wasn't bad just a couple of minor things. I liked the mushrooms but it depends on her body of work I guess.
Sorry wasn't trying to make more work for you.
Glad to see I'm not going blind though.
