Undfinished Sketches -
Since I can't post any of my work here I'll make a complaining post
I was wondering how many of you start work that you can't finish
It seems that I lose enthusiasm by the second day. So if I didn't finish something when I started the work I don't want to go back to it again
Can you go back to your work days later?
All I have are piles of undone projects :toilet:

I know Steeldolphin has to finish something pretty much in one go or he won't finish it.
I used to be like that but I am working a lot with oils right now so i will go back repeatedly to finish the work.

Yeah, I am impatient, most of what I do digitallly has to be done that same day..though there have been a few that have stretched out over a few nights....
I think I would problably do much beter if I did take more time on these things in general as well.

Yep, always happens me. Same thing with music, I make electronic music and have tones of unfinished stuff. With art, I feel i must finish it as quickly as possible or i get bored and start a fresh one. I need lots of patience!!

I don't get bored as much or want to start something new
It's more that it's usually the details that I need to work on once the main idea is done and in part I don't go back to my work because I'm afraid that by working on the details I'll end up ruining it. And many times just that happened
And sometimes it seems that by picking up something that I started lets say Monday I will be adding something different on Tuesday. And I'm afraid that I won't continue the idea right
Sometimes it's easier not to even start :alc:

I am the other way around when it comes to digital work, I feel that I'm constantly learning and have several pieces that are not finished. The only difference I suppose would be that I still work on them. When it comes to traditional art (sketches mainly) I have a problem with starting one and not finishing it. If its good enough or I am inspired enough I will go back and redo it and eventually get it into line art for photoshop painting.
Procrastination can be an artist worst enemy, I would suggest tackling that album today, and maybee more importantly keep at it tommarrow.

its called focus dude....i think he's right....its always nice to start on a new idea once it comes your way...but theres nothing more rewarding and fulfilling than to see that things gets done...like seeing the fruits of your labor. :dub:

Well that's what I end up doing with most of my work when I get back to it.. redoing it
Although I have to say I've become better at this
Once you complain things change ;)

I know.. I make myself get back to some of the work that I started

I do that way too often. I have tones of started projects that i hope to finish, but never seem to. Some of them i continue to work on every so often. Some i just never go back to (that seems to depend on how good it was turning out, the better it was looking the more likely i am to keep working on it)... I don't stop working on them initially because of becoming bored with them. But for me, my kids take up much of my time, so the time i do get to draw is limited, and sometimes small chunks of time. And there are times that i will stop working on something if it is not working. It is good to take a break if it's not working right. It seems getting back to it after a break, with a fresh mind seems to help sometimes. I also usually am working on three or four pieces at once. So i might be working on one, while taking a break from another. Infact the digital piece that my avatar over there is cropped from, i worked on that off and on for prolly six months, before i thought it was finally finished.
But sadly i do have a lot of unfinished work that i fear will never get finished.

I think the problem with me was that I wouldn't let myself go unless what I started was perfect- I wouldn't really let sketches be sketches
I would make serious topics out of them and try to complete absolutely everything. I was just putting a lot of pressure on myself
I'd come back to everything and actually make it into serious work. And I guess I was fighting myself because since I was making myself come back to everything I ended up leaving everything altogether. Now I just let myself be a little bit more free and don't try to make everything perfect.. I understand that I'm not trying to create a masterpiece out of every work and I'm expanding my drawing skills and training my hand more.. and I am more free to let them be what they are. But thanks for all of the relating comments guys
