i was browsing through my stats this morning and i see a new domain so i take a look, and i was a little distubred at what i found..

at first i thought, ok, so this is not as bad of a rip as i have seen before of my site. but it still bothered me that the splash page looked like it was a desaturated copy of my old index page (http://www.dubtastic.com/images/site/v5index.jpg) not to mention that there was no link to dubtastic.com from his main page, yet i was still seeing his root doman show up in my counter stats. hmmmm.... how could that be? well, the genious left my counter code in his page, thats how:

so i take a look at the interior page, and my, what a creative way to layout a page... you have the navigation in the top left, a news feed on the left, an ad for prints and merchandise in the middle, and another news feed on the right. why, that looks awfully familiar to my site (http://www.dubtastic.com/focus.php) doesnt it? i mean, even the text in the news feed is formatted the same. ugh.

and here is the kicker, taking a look at the source code for his interior page (http://emptybulb.com/source.htm), i see that he has my counter code in there:

so i ask you, rip or not? if you say it isnt a rip, then why is my counter code showing up on his site?

its obviously a rip of the html, imagery I would vote inspired. Which is dumb since they seem to have enough know how to make a page layout themselves. Its a mind boggler

i posted this on deviant arts forums, which of course was locked down. the only explanation given was "do not accuse a deviant of ripping." right, because the forum i was in specifically said "rip reporting". maybe next time i will post such information in their photography or deviant prints sections. ugh.

the guy has been in denial, actually. he said at one point he had an affiliates page and had linked me there, which is why i was seeing traffic from his site. however, i clearly pointed out the page where my counter code is on his site, and that also i was getting traffic from his root page, not an affiliates page.

i dont know why its so hard for these people to admit that they are worthless heaps of manure.

i'm not the kind of person that likes to be a jerk, and i fucking hate rippers, i've definetly had my share of those. I don't want to seem like a jerk or someone that just stole your site design, because, seriously, i know how much time you put into your site, the html is amazing.

I'm a beginner in web design, i've just recently begun using html, i used to only understand javascripts, and css. I understand that you would be mad and pissed at someone who would steal all of that hard work from you.

I saw your site, about 2 weeks ago, and was really inspired to build a website as good as yours. It was amazing, because i'm good with graphics, and design, just not with web based designing. I really thought wow this guy really has an amazing page here, i could learn something from this guy. So i begun learning your code. i did not want to steal your site, i would have never done that and never will, the only thing i was really doing with your site, was seeing what i could make of it. i used some of the things i learned in your page to do to mine. my site has not ever been finished, all i am even doing is experimenting with html, i don't even know how to use it very well. i was messing around with your code on my site, to see how it works. i did use some of your code, because i figured i would learn something out of it. I wasn't promoting my site, and saying, look this is my work. because i'm only using this site as a place to learn for now. I really enjoyed your site, i'm sorry i put your link on my affiliates page. I'm sorry i used your code, but remember that i'm only trying to learn from your page. I'm probably not even going to finish my site for quite some time, so this is not the finished product, i was simply trying to learn how to design a website.

to make my deviant art involvement that much more pleasurable, i noted the moderator that locked my post and asked why he did it and if there was any other recourse available.


The Rip Reporting forum is for reporting rips off of deviantART, meaning something of yours ON DA has been ripped OFF DA.
Accusing a member of a bannable offense in public is in breach of policy, since it only incites flames and nasty messages from the overenthusiastic. The Report Violation button, located under each and every deviation, is there for a reason. It's an anonymous reporting tool that will be entered into a database that the Policy Violation admins look over and go through every day.
All you have to do is click the button and include a link to the original - bada bing, bada boom, taken care of. Without lynch mobs.


i am glad that he pays attention. this wasnt a deviation, but a freaking journal entry. i didnt see the big flashing report button anywhere.

i have had many opinions about da in the past, and most of my troubles have been in regard to their print program. granted, since its launch, they have vastly improved their service in that area, but this apathy towards people with legit complaints is truly bothersome. it only shows that not enough moderators care about having an art community.

i could go on and on about this...
