finished as a school project but then really liked it and decided to keep it :)

www.alexsem.com

It takes about a century and a half to load, so please bear with me... The way I coded it in flash, it would glitch if I didn't preload all the content :(

First post on these forums (and I don't post on forums much), so please forgive me and guide me if I am doing something silly that I shouldn't be doing/saying :)

:grinning:

welcome to teh forum! you asked for a crit.... and dagnabbit you are gonna get a crit. :grin2:

its pretty nice - clean + simple just the way i like things. few points:

-you must, MUST either lighten it up or get a much faster host - the load time is inexcuseable.

-the secondary navigation (sound, view resume, etc.) are much to large - should be either in the same or a complimentary font but smaller.

-get rid of the 'pop' sound on rollover

-(my opinion) do not have the main "logo" of your page be "alexsem.com" - i already know i am at alexsem.com - what i do not know is your name until and unless i click on your 'view resume' link. your brand in this site is YOU - and you are not branding yourself properly.

-issues with what items are, namely when i click view resume, i dont know if i am getting a PDF, a word Doc, or another webpage - this should be clarified. Also i think having a PDF is important. Same with send feedback - i need to know what this is before i click, a web form, and email, or what.

-"fullview" is not a word, and even if it was, it is much too large on your thumbnails - try something much sorter/smaller or better yet an icon (e.g. magnifying glass or something) Also (at least on OSX 10.3.2, Safari 1.2) the popup window is not sized to the image properly.
