i went through an "i want to draw" phase...never delved deep enough into it though..all my drawings/sketches were very basic...with plain old #2 pencils...i had no real knowledge of shading or depth...anyway..these are the only two i scanned...you might recognize robert smith..and the other...well..i was a duranie...*sigh*

Kriegs, quick look at your sketches sort of didn't look all that impressive or whatever but the more I looked at them, especially the second one, the more cleare it became. The emotions behind the character are very strong.

And gotta love the nome :)

Nemesis: Yea, I'm not very good, I never claimed to be. I guess I have more of a childish style and thats the style I like :) But thanks, I do try to put some emotion into the characters :)

Some more sketches from today (sept. 23rd, 2004). More of my Little Johnny Rocket (upper right). Maybe a sidekick for him? (bottom left) and a random fuzzy monster (bottom right).

I haven't been doing much drawing lately. Seems everytime i try to sit down and draw my kids just won't allow it.

Here is one quick life drawing i did of my daughter's feet (after she'd fallen asleep on the floor):
http://www.msandie.com/art/babyfeet.jpg

I'm trying to do more life drawing (since most my traditional art has been from photo refs, and the school i'll be applying to says they prefer objective art - meaning art drawn from life, not photos - included in portfolios). This is all i've got done so far, since my kids just won't stay still long enough for me to quick sketch them. :p

03-19-2005, 06:32 AM
very nice msandie :) I like it.. I should try drawing from life aswell..

Anyway this one is a sketch based on the cover of a comic book named thorgal...

And another one featuring my cat "Fozzy Fozzbourne" :p This one ise drawn from life. Was hard enough seeing as much like msandies kids she refuses to sit still and keeps running around the house. I cornered her finally and she granted me a total of 5 minutes to do my.. ahum *cough* "magic" :mickey:

Oh yeah. Cats are hard too! I love the expression on that cat though, looks quite onry (sp?)! lol

This was the result i got once when i tried to draw my sister's cat and he wouldn't stay in one position for very long:
http://www.msandie.com/art/full/catparts.jpg
It's old. But i still like it. :p

Can't wait to get my cat back (she's at my mother's cause where we live we cannot afford the pet deposit! ) so i can try sketching her some more! She's fluffy though, which adds to the challenge. :)

Wendy, I think all that my friend Scotty was getting at was that since you are obviously a very talented cartoonist and illustrator, that it would be awesome if you would occasionally help out other aspiring illustrators with some critiques and comments. I'm sure some of them would love to hear what you thought of their drawings. :)
On your latest sketches: They're all very cool, as usual. I like the sexy girls, both the one with the cig and the one with the martini. They represent maybe a new and different style for you, sort of like the drawing style that I see in a lot of serious graphic novels. :grin2:

... Lest it be thougt that all I do is comment on other people's work...
http://www.geocities.com/gnortsmracr/samples_new.html

A couple of sketches/doodles from a while back and a pen/ink piece I did almost a decade ago that I'm personally proud of. Trying to incorporate drawing into a daily routine/habit (currently an uphill battle). Will post more at a later date.

Any thoughts/comments?

Hi everyone,
I don't know if this could really be called a sketchbook, seeing how a couple of them are actually finished models, but here it is:
http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g120/123asd06/
A lot of the things are folded from copy paper, so I guess that they would be sketches. Also, an example of my cartooning (which I admit I'm not the best at...) is in the non-origami section
