I think the first is better as well. I like the effect you have with the lettering with the metalic look. The bevels may be a bit too much for my own tastes though.
The other thing I noticed on the first one is the drop shadow (glow) effects are different on the two words, and for some reason this kind of throws it off a little for me.

I really like the second one. I think it would be better if you didnt have the background Or the shock waves

I like the first one.
I would space the "productions" letters out and maybe move them up. If labels are going to be made for the videos you are going to need a compact "tight" logo otherwise the text will be small.
Technical notes - disregard at will
One thing you should consider is whether the logo will be used for any other purpose. Will it be used for B&W newspaper ads for example or other advertising, maybe business cards or letterhead? If so then you may have some problems reproducing the logo in other formats. If converted to b&w for example the drop shadow will make the logo look very "muddy". If anything is going to be printed then with the present samples you would have to print them full (4) colour instead of one or two colours, which adds to the cost.
The other consideration is size. Will the logo be used in a larger size? Like on the back of a shirt of jacket. If so you need to make it at a high enough resolution to begin with so that it will cover all the bases. You can always make it small but it's hard to make it bigger. You could also make it vector but it would require use of Illustrators gradient mesh or skillful use of blending.
Just some thoughts - good job :)

thanks for the comments guy's and freaky for that inciteful designer's tip. Right now we're actually thinking of shrinking it a tad for a the t-shirts, and the only other thing and what it was meant for was an intro image for their skydiving vids. I dont think they plan on using it for anything else and if so i'll make some new stuff :p
i did this for free by the way

I prefer the second one actually. doesn't seem so in your face as the first one. But I am not totally sold on the grid. It's very expensive to do fades with printing if your going to use this logo in anything that has to be printed. If that's not the case then you can pretty much do anything you want and my critiques are utterly useless then. :p
Even still I would think about eliminating that grid it just seems out of place to me.
