I've been looking around some artist pages, and found two artists who use fairly similar style: www.seempieces.com and www.novembre.ws

I was just wondering, (I'm quite new to using Photoshop, yes) how does one make pictures in the way you can find from those sites?

Here's a little example pic address from seempieces, and I'll try to explain myself a bit clearer:

http://www.seempieces.com/gallery/antidepressive/antidepressive2.jpg

To me the picture seems as if it was almost a painting. At the bottom of the figure you can see like.. splatters of paint or so. Hope you know what I mean. And also if you have time to check out some other pictures from those sites, all the pictures have like... very DEEP and soft coloring... is there something I can do with photoshop to add that kind of feeling? (I'm sure there is, but what is it)

Okhay... well, I hope someone has time to read this and tell me a bit something. I'm in a way irritated by those pictures, because they're so freaking magnificent. So I decided to start trying to create some feeling pictures, and to see how hard it would be.

Hey Hox, thanks for the link. i agree superb work! Look forward to more experienced pshop users replying to your question but i know that it would take a lot of experience and practice to create those types of images. Not to mention the creative inspiration to come up with them!

Okay here is the simple and short answer....

There is no easy way of doing this sort of thing. Believe me I wish there was...
The results you see in those works most likely came from many hours of manipulating textures, fiddling with layer masks, channels, and layer modes.

Dubtastic has some great tuts, theya re good for starters and provide an excellent foundation...the rest you may have to find on your won through experimentation and combination of many effects.

Also try plaing with blurring duplicate layers then "fading' them with various blending modes like overlay and multiply, this can often give you a dreamy ethereal, or 'midnight softness' that you may be looking for. remember alot depends on the photo(s) you choose to use as well.

Have fun and good luck :)

Thanks for the answer Steeldolphin. I suppose I'll just start spending some hours infront of my PC ;)

I'm just having a hard situation, my own computer (a sucker) doesn't run Photoshop... haha :D And I can only use my brothers laptop for picture editing. I hope he lets me use it hours in a row... eh ;)

But thanks a lot from the answer and the tutorial link. I'll check 'em again when I get home from work! Thanks mate!

(I feel like I could be spending some nice hours on this forum!)

Books are also good source to find stuff to determine your style and the things you might work at.
