I still have some more work on it but mostly just detail work to get more finalized at print size but I thought I would post it now to get your thoughts. :)

Lookin' good, Chris. I'm assuming you plan on making some of the edges crisper and bringing a little more contrast into this?

Yeah I will be tightening this up a bit, but I am more or less happy with the overal contrast and value range at this point, but we will see how it goes as I finish it up (or how it looks to me tomorrow and I realize how bad it really is).

I have yet to see a painting from you that I wasn't amazed at. This one is especially good. Love the colors and texture... wow. That is all.

I like the composition, i.e. - the vertical-ness of the piece, with the eye in the center. Very cool. I could see this being a promo piece for a zoo or a National Geo special or something. Good job.

great texture man, agreed about the depth, but it might just need a few more hihglightls around the face, if you get the nose area (think it's called a nose) lighter than the top of the head i think it'd fix it without doing too much major contrasting (forgive me, i'm having a bad england day)

oh yeh, try an unsharp mask, think t'd really suit this :)

monk you and your sharpens ;)

I have worked a bit more into this and infact redone alot of the skin texture in the head, and am working on the rest. I will repost when I am done. Its already looking better to me, so hopefully I will be able to get to where I will be 100% happy with it.

thanks again for the helpful crits folks.

reworked the skin and added some texture. It looks better at print size, but still far from what I would like but tis going to take more time and alot more practice for me. I think I will call this one done and move on to my next wildlife victim. :)
