Alright, so I work at a shipping place, and we do copying and printing as a kind of side job, and so we'll take whatever kind of job we can. At the moment, I'm working on a catalog. My customer brought it in in publisher format, on a cd. File size is 54.9 MB, and at the moment it takes a good 10-15 minutes to get the data even to our printer. Is there any way for me to reduce the file size, or convert it to something that would work better with our printer?

Well 50mb doesn't seem like a large size to me depending on # of pages and content.
If you have publisher and acrobat you can create a PDF from it which should print faster depending on settings and the printer you are using.
Publisher is not really (well not at all) a good program for printing from or working with so good luck.
