NEW YORK, NEW YORK (April 27, 2007) – The Weinstein Company today announced the start of a contest to create the best movie poster for the highly anticipated film THE EX, sponsored by Starpulse.com. The winner of the contest will have their poster prominently displayed at their hometown theater, gets a private screening of THE EX for them and 25 of his/her friends, a full-size print of their poster autographed by the cast, which includes Zach Braff, Amanda Peet and Jason Bateman, and a promotion for the poster on the film’s official website, www.theexmovie.com. THE EX is a Weinstein Company presentation being released in the U.S. by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM) in May 2007.
To enter the contest, simply log onto www.starpulse.com and download the ‘Contest Package’ which will provide you with images from the film, different title treatments, a billing block with logos, a copy of the official THE EX poster (for some creative inspiration), and contest rules and directions to build your poster. When finished, simply email your poster to contest@theexcontest.com to submit for judging or if you need help, e-mail help@theexcontest.com. Submissions must be emailed by May 25th, 2007 for consideration. Good Luck!
ABOUT THE EX
Tom Reilly (Zach Braff) and his wife Sofia (Amanda Peet) are in for some major changes now that they have a newborn. As a lawyer, Sofia has always provided a comfortable living while Tom has contributed love, support and the occasional paycheck. When Sofia decides to be a stay-at-home mom all that changes.
Tom moves the family to Ohio to work for his father-in-law (Charles Grodin) as an ‘Assistant Associate Creative’ for “Sunburst Communications.” His boss Chip (Jason Bateman) happens to still carry a torch for Sofia from their high school days. Each time Tom gains some ground at the firm, Chip wheels in and steals his thunder. Dirty tricks and sabotage abound creating an atmosphere of fierce paranoia that eventually threatens Tom and Sofia’s relationship.
Chip will stop at nothing to see Tom defeated while no one but Tom can see Chip for the evil genius he is. Through it all Tom’s esteem is depleted, his manhood challenged (by a surprisingly large adversary) and he’s watching his family slip away.
THE EX stars Zach Braff, Amanda Peet and Jason Bateman. Also in the cast are Charles Grodin, Mia Farrow, Donal Logue, Amy Poehler and Amy Adams. It is directed by Jesse Peretz and written by David Guion and Michael Handelman. It is produced by Anthony Bregman, Anne Carey and Ted Hope.
