Phirebrush (http://www.phirebrush.com/)

Finally, after 3 months of work, the new Phirebrush design is completed. Hope you guys all enjoy and thanks to everyone who helped get it done. All css driven. xhtml complient (except the issues page, we gotta tweak the cms for that). New sections and to top if off we have over 200 submissions (a record for us) in Issue24. Interview24 with Jon Contino of one26.com.

New material will be added all week, like downloads and articles. So, be sure to check back over the month. Deadline for Issue25 is February 28th.

Also, If you notice any bugs, please let me know. My eyes are goooone from staring at the screen all day....

Excellent work Jason. I only wished you had selected a more readable typeface for the site :)

b-man: ya, a few people don't care for Georgia, but I love having something other than the veranda, arial that everyone runs. haha :)

I think its the size of the type face...serif fonts at that size on screen I find very hard to read...i would bump it up a point or two ;) But i am old and my eyesight is fading

If its all CSS he should be able to include a style switcher that would change the font size for handicapp or elderly. However I can only point you in the direction of alistapart.com since I'm still learning how to do this myself.

About the site, I've been meaning to tell you this but I completely enjoy almost every aspect of it, Everything from the layout to the simple and clean styles. The only thing I didn't find attractive is some of the submitted art that wasn't my style, which has nothing to do with the redesign anyway.
I would also like to say that this is an inspiration to me as a CSS designer and a web designer to see how well things can come together.

God bless.

I know what you mean about everone using the one of "Big 3" sans-serifs Jason (arial, verdana, helvetica). I'm the same way when I'm doing a new Web Design comp for someone, I'm always wishing I could use certain fonts, but I can't because they would have to be widely installed. So, like everyone else, I always find myself back at one of the "Big 3" sans-serifs. I think it's cool that Trebuchet has come into it's own as a popular, and widely installed typeface. Even Zeldman (http://www.zeldman.com/) uses Trebuchet on his site. I think your Georgia might be a little hard to read, but it looks ok. I would love to see how your site would look with one of "Big 3" sans-serif fonts though. Keep up the great work man! :)

Georgia is one of the bigger fonts, but i dont think its on mac if I remember correctly. I think georgia ads character, love how it displays numbers.

Pieter, thank you so much for the kind words my friend, really means alot, makes me want to keep at it.. haha. As for CSS, it was only a matter of time, kinda came out of the blue. I planned to do tables, but Prophet from EndEffect offered to assist me. He got it started and I just ran with it. So, it was a learn while I do experience which really helped alot. I plan to remake my site in css in the near future. I know there are a few bugs on the site stilll (like in the issues, sometimes they get cut off in Firefox. The newsletter area doesnt hide in the div in Opera......). But overall im happy. As far as the submissions, I know there are things that wont cater to everyons liking but I'm trying to keep an open mind to them, because beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all. You should see some of the things that don't make it ;)

Thanks again everyone!!!

FYI, I noticed you used "(C)" for your copyright at the bottom of the page, try using "©" in your code and you notice you get the correct symbol.
Cheers, Pieter
