an ode to chris, oh chris how cloudy, big big sky, baby castle in the ground, slowly growing, enough of that, been messing with acrylics the last couple of days, just testing em out on small 8"canvasses, not spending too long, around an hour, weird stuff acrylic, i prefer oil, but as a baby second, they're not bad, quick to work with anway, inspired by our gracious hosts superb big skies

thanks a lot dudes, i'll be better once i get some decent brushes, was disappointed with the clouds, wanted them to come out like my digital clouds but with a £1 30piece brushset (gifts, i got loads of em, and really cheap paints) i couldn't really render anything, was like fingerpainting, i have really nice brushes but i don't want to taint them with acrylic, as they're my oil brushes (£14 each), jc, only an 8inch canvasboard, i'm just getting a feel for the paint as i've never used it before, going to do about 10 of these before i start on a decent sized canvas properly (i have a 40" that i'm dying to get onto, and loads of 18"ers)
here's the first one i did, selfportrait from memory, same size & timeframe

I love them both monk. Although i must say the speed paint has a beautiful simplicity and to me is strong as is without the human element.

THe second one is almost an entirely different piece, still draing on the original palette and composition but giving the viewer more focused image.

However if I were to hang one on the wall, I think the original would be my choice, simply because as you well know my tastes ;)

You definitely have a very definitive style monk, and your paintings seem to get stronger with every piece.

I adore "remember me" it just speaks to me for reasons. The mood, the emotion, its all captured just beautifully, almost makes me want to cry (but thats a good thing). Beautiful job. I almost didnt notice the castle in the background until I looked at the detailed view.

thx a lot guys, it's only now that i'm starting to believe that i have a style at all, given that my subject matters are pretty different image to image, was struggling to see any sort of style, but having it pointed out to me is a good feeling, i'm a lot more comfortable doing what i'm doing now, have a certain way of attacking things and i think the way i render and my colour choices are getting more noticeable as i go on, feels like i'm actually getting somewhere
