I've been watching this CF card for a while but never really decided to get one 'til now.
I've seen the price go down to $152 once and stupid me thought it will go down more but instead went to $178. Now back to $169.

Anyone owns one of these generic ones. I'm sure it will work fine, I guess I'm just curious.

Well first of all this is a microdrive (hardrive) style card not a memory based one but I figure you know that.

It is not listed on the www.robgalbraith.com compact flash database which benchmarks the best cards.

I would be wary of any hardrive based card. The drives in a desktop comoputers go defective enough that I don't even want to think about a miniature portable one.

I did a search and wasn't able to find any reviews ono this product, just people selling and product annoucements.

Looking on the robgalbraith forums, several people have threads about them. On a quick browse it seems they have varying builb quality / reliability and also problems getting the files off the card.

It should also be noted that the pro quality compact flash memory based cards come with a lifetime warranty vs the 1 year on the Magicstor.

Depends how important it is to you not to lose 300+ RAW files

I suggest you at least read through some of the thread on robgalbraith first.

The only complaint about that one I found was the one guy and that ended up being a driver problem. Besides that was a Mac.
People seem to praise new Hitachi microdrives and I found 2GB one for $250 which is only $100 more but at least I know it will work and probably like you said it will have lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the forums reminder, I totally forgot about that site :)
