My new site. -
Okay, please excuse me if I am being too picky. Heres what I think...
1. The .::Your Text Here::. junk is way too overused. This is obviously personal opinion although it really does make stuff look quite newbish.
2. The use of the same image is not a good idea, but it does look pretty nice. Either change the splash or main page image.
3. Finish of the content box, dont make it just three lines. There really needs to be a top one.
4. Suggesting that someone should have an open mind when they enter your site is also rather cliche.
Other than that, it looks pretty well rounded.

I understand everything but
"3. Finish of the content box, dont make it just three lines. There really needs to be a top one."
I did this as a design choice. Its just something I like, and feel it makes it look a little cooler. I say "open mind" because I will be posting more semi nude work i've done, and don't want people attacking me. Thanks for your views.:-)

The first thing that stood out to me was the typeface used in the sections. I think you should use a consistent, sans-serif font (via external CSS of course.) Try "Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" as a font group. Otherwise, it's coming along pretty well.

here are my thoughts... just keep in mind that i do this for a living and get hammered on just about every project on the little details, so dont take it personal. only trying to help. :)
splash page:
not really digging the cursor change. i never spend a lot of time on sites that change the cursor to that plus, because of usability issues. i would rather see more time put into the site design and/or content rather than these types of changes. i would also put some more "kick" into the image. just appears too "cut off" and placed in, like there was not a lot of effort and thought placed into the splash page.
code:
- you should take advantage of external style sheets. that should make working on your pages and editing them a lot easier.
- no meta tags?
- no alt tags?
- no page titles?
-lastly, the w3c validation service burped when i ran your site through it: see here (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vampboydesigns.com%2Findex2.html)
interior:
- i just seems a little plain and vacant for my tastes. if you are dead set on using the character, have it interact more with the design, such as holding the content box or something along those lines. right now, the white space is too overpowering for me.
- all the text is red and blends in... i would suggest doing some different things with the copy to make certain items jump out, or just to break up large sections of text with graphical elements.
those are the biggest things that grabbed my attention when i was flipping through your site.

I see what your saying. The site was done in a semi rush, because it had to be done for the con. this weekend. Does anyone have any comments ont he content? Such as CG work, or anything?
I'm gonna be a new layout in a few months. So all your ideas will come into play then. Thanx

Haha Dub, good review. You almost reminded my of kvack when you went through all of the code validations. I could never get that stuff right man.

it has been embedded into my brain because we have to do it with every project at work. there are many things that i do not do with my personal site, but will the next redesign.
vamp: i would recommend setting up a quick checklist to run through. before launching your new design, run through your checklist to make sure everything is the way you want it/need it.

Dub, I'm with you on the standards compliance, etc. The sites I develop at work not only have to be standards compliant, but fully 508 accessible, including NN 4.5 and 4.7. Lot's of fun!(smilie here of me shooting myself in the head). I'm in the process of developing an all CSS layout of my site. Ready probably in June. Vamp, if you want to take your Web design skills (not the art/content, but the structure of the site itself) to the next level, then a good site to bookmark is zeldman.com (http://www.zeldman.com). Keep up the good work man.

i am actually lucky in that aspect. we do not include NN in any of our q&a or development standards. :) :grin2:
