There are a couple of good reviews on this camera, one of the best can be found at www.luminous-landscape.com. You can also try www.dpreview.com.

After reading a few reviews I would urge caution if you are considering this camera. There have been several issues brought to light regarding both the 4 colour sensor as well as the quality of lens sensor as far as Chormatic Aberation is concerned.

The biggest issues I see with this camera are:

- Colour changes drastically depending on exposure because of the 4 colour sensor.

- Lots of noise at the higher ISO settings

- Quite a bit of CA at wide and telephoto settings, conpared to almost none in the middle of the zoom range.

There are quite a few other cameras in competition with the Sony now including models from Nikon, Canon, Minolta and Olympus.

Over at www.steves-digicams.com I think there are sample images from 3 of the 5 cameras to compare.

Edit: I should have mentioned that there are 3 seperate reviews on the luminous-landscape website, a first review, a second look and a lens test.

I was considering previous model but right now I think that they have made a mistake on pricing it.
If I was spending $1000 on a new camera I would pick 300D over that one for sure.
Sure it has more MP's but the sensor is nowhere near the one in 300D.

You must be thinking of the F717 then, which is the previous model to the F828 I think. I would be hesitant to recommend it as there are probably newer cameras out there for around the same price with better features depending on what you're looking for. Depends on how good a deal you can get and what you want to us it for.

The 300D or Digital Rebel as it is also known, will probably drop about $100-200 by September to make it look better vs the D70. By all accounts Canon should be adding two new DSLR models to their line up this year plus maybe updating the 10D and Rebel. Nikon will also be replacing the D100 with a new model.

I think the best policy right now is wait and see for at least 2 more months. This is a Photokina year (End of September to 1st week in October). So expect new model releases and price drops all the way into the fall.

F828 = Xtreme monster, this baby is a beast, yet to expensive for me.

I'm actually gonna be purchasing the Sony DSC-F717 tonight at Circuit City. it's on clearance for $521, and I can get my employee discount on top of that. It's a great camera and i'm so excited about this.

I think that is the camera Dubtastic uses, and as far as I know it has given him good service. :)
