The new version of illustrator is very good. Photoshop is not that big of an improvement unless you shoot RAW files, the RAW converter is very good.

Well there isn't too much of a change with Photoshop 7 to CS... which is why they went with a CS instead of a version number. But the things that I heard about was the round pixel feature.. and I'm sure there are others. Haven't checked out Illustrator CS yet so I can't say what's different with that.

From what Andrew tells me Illustrator CS incorporates styles like Indesign and few other features as well, which would be handy.

I was somewhat dissapointed in PS CS.
From what I've seen there are only few "upgrades" Like mentioned above
RAW support
Color Matching - which I never got to work for me
Photo Filters - were these in previous version(s)?
Text on a path - finally!!!
That's all I can think off.

i was about to rip on the RAW support, saying that it only supported a handful of RAW formats, but i like to try and be as up to date on statements like this so i don't get schooled, i went to the adobe website to double check...and behold an update...and it supports my camera!! so i'll hold my comments on the RAW support until i have a chance to test it. :D
and i'm not too disappointed with it, but i skipped ps7, so this was an upgrade from 6.
