one of the many wip's that i need to get round to finishing someday, this should take the least amount of time so it's pushing itself to the top of the pile, need to upscale to 300dpi and refine, fix the muscle structure a little, not sure, but it looks a little flat somehow, dunno if it needs some midground in there, and if so, i have no idea hehe (i had put a wire fence in there, but the straightness threw the composition)

Looks like you do things similar to me. I like to work on broad and general areas (the sketch) at lower res then upscale and refine.

I think the two figures really provide an interesting tension and their alien shapes add a mystery as well. The diagonal of the bg city helps the composition without overpowering it. I am not sure you need anything in the mid area. Although unless you have something planned for the bottom you may want to crop it out some.

If you add more detail to the figures and the clothing- like folds etc, you may find that the lack of depth will recede, because I think its the flatness of the cloak/skirt things in comparison to the figures that give that impression.

Nice work as usual monk, and I look forward to the finished piece. :)

yep, finding it easier lately to refine it as much as i can at 72 first, it's cut down on time immensely, less to do when it's big. Nice idea too, wasn't thinking much about the bottom half, i use negative space too much :), will more than likely add a bit of depth and a pattern to the cloth per suggestion, ta man :)

The bottom half would almost be good if this was for a movie poster or something it has that feel. :)

finally got a chance to work on this, all refined at 300dpi now, messed with the colour a lot, used textured brushes over the fabric rather than a pattern (got lazy, it would have taken an age) worked on the depth of them, the 2d elements are just an idea, the centre logo thing sucks i know, but i might put something in there to balance things out, think the border adds to it - although that was just a cheap filter (probably replace that too) thinking of ways to include 2d elements to get rid of any spaces

Edit - and a new version, sharpened up a bit, got rid of the shonky logo and changed the border, getting close to finishing i think

Edit - stuck a fork in it :)

sharpened it up a bit more
