this is a very belated xmas gift for my mother-in-law... this is her dog, whom she has spoiled rotten. i had started it and was on a roll, and for some reason, ran directly into a creative block. so this has been sitting for at least a month now.

in a word....wow.

this has a very Bert Monroy-ish feel for some reason to me (in a good way, not in a bad way). i would like to see a bit more progression from light to dark on the torso and on the wall behind the dawg. also the chest where it meets the ground feels a bit large to me, but thats the pic i suppose.

It's looking good thus far.. I feel I shouldn't comment on it because it's a work in progress. But so far it looks great

I think its coming along great so far Dub. the eyes look very real.

The hair is progressing nicely, I think in fact you wouldnt have to do much more because the style is all very inline with the rest of the painting. The only thing is that you have some flat areas on the body that could use some more detail. One trick for hair (and I imagine there are many) is to paint the major shapes in layers, then after go in for more detail. Be careful using toomuch smudge. In fact it might be better in some cases to zoom out and use a 1 or 2 pixel brush and put the hairs in like that. You dont need them everywhere just in spots that will create the illusion that there is hair.

This is one of the best paintings I have seen from you so far Dub. :)

Good work and keep em coming.
