Do not buy tablets that come with batteries...

God those are going to really drive you nuts.

The one I bought (and regret) has 2 batteries in the pen. It takes a mighty hand to work with such a stick :)

Wacom is the best bet. Tablets are costly but really there are no good alternatives to Wacom. Graphire 2 - 4^5inch tablet costs around 90$US, and will serve you well :)

I whole-heartedly agree. :)

I've worked with every size/model of Wacom except for the Cintiq and they were all good. I also have an Aiptek Pen Monitor, which is comparable to the Wacom Cintiq and I absolutely love it. I've heard that the Wacom version is slightly better because of the tilt feature and the paper textured screen, but considering Aiptek's version was half the price, it's a sacrifice I was willing to make. As far as having a battery in the pen, I actually prefer it. With a AAA in the pen, it feels more like a regular ink pen rather then a hollow plastic stick. It's probably just that I'm used to it now, though.
