Okey, a friend of mine is an author, and I came up with an idea of wanting to illustrate a childrens book... but i wanted to do an experiment.
So, I am supposed to draw all the images without creating a story and then give him all the images "in radom", and then it´s up to him to create the story based on my drawings...
Here´s one of the first drawings...

It is my first watercolor ever, I managed to skip all those classes during my years i art school...
And yes, I know that it looks like the kid is playing "pocket-tennis"! :D

I managed to miss this post somehow :(
I like the style in which you have drawn and watercoloured this image. IT would not look out of place in a childrens book.
Good Job :grin2:

@ Scotty, Hazley : I just had to write that to see if there would be some reaction... Sorry! :) :stupid:
Anyway... I´m glad that you seem to like it, cause my debut in childrens books was a disaster!
But on the other hand... those illo´s where ment to be for the youngest... so they where "very" simple and flat (no blending or shadows) and I drew it in illustrator!
The book publishers hated the illo´s more than satan (excuse my language)... called me untallented and so on!
So this will be my revenge! :D

I thought it was good but I guess it's up to publishers...
Did they give you any guidelines, what to work on?
And lastly - doesn't is feel grand to be rejected like that? :p

@ Nemesis : Thanx! It was another book that was axed by the publishers... this one is´nt written yet! All the drawing are almost done, but then my friend will write it, and he is kind of busy on his novell for the moment! :)
But to answer your question... Yes it´s lovely to get personally executed bu suckers who´s never ever been drawing or painting, cause they really know what they talk about (or)?! :furious3:

I like the style on this sample. Really fitting for children books. Nice use of colours as well, and it doesn't show that you skipped those water color classes at school ;)

I like it. :)
I think every artist/writer gets rejected hard at least once, and in most cases many times ;) Keep in mind though that publishers - at least the successful ones know what will sell and what won't...they may not know art as you say, but I think some of the good ones do, but they will know what their market wants.

@ Steeldolphin : Yeah, you´re right about what you´re saying (probably)... :)
@ henning : The thing is that my brush movements and technic is more similar to drawing than painting, but I´m learning! :D
I think it´s good to mix and try different medias... never snow-in on one track, that´s why I choosed watercolor for this book!
