Heya all.

I just got given a set of 4 linearts from a friend cos i ran out.

However she draws in a different style to what im used to inking.

I used to ink Sci-fi/Traditional manga stuff. She draws in a uniquely fantasy style.
Now here my problem starts, from my previous inking experience i would normally ink in dark colors, and maybe some dark pastels too. With shiny bits to boot.

However with very little experience in fantasy manga i have no idea what colors to use.

Does anyone have some ideas?

Cheers

I would think that with inking pencils that you would just use an ink like india ink or some other archival ink. Do you or can you show us a sample of the line art? It might be easier to make a suggestion.

Your best bet is to study similar images to get ideas of colour schemes.
Here is one place to start:
http://www.art.com/asp/display.asp?XRFID=044932&TKID=1307695&ID=1843&isSearch=Y&searchString=fantasy

Other places to check would be a library/bookstore for more historical stuff or a game/hobby shop for more imaginary stuff. Lots of fantasy artists have websites now too.

Without more info on the images or samples it is hard to say. Fantasy could be anything from hell spawn monsters to fairies and unicorns.
:)

Hope this helps a little.

Its more light, angels etc etc. She is a Art History major at uni, so that gives some perspective.

About 10 mins ago i looked through my inks in the cupboard and decided i didnt have enough to do this pic justice, so ive scanned it in.
So I guess it just turned into Digital.

Currently cleaning up the lineart, ill put up a shot soon.

Hmm, forgot to put up the lineart last night.

I spent about 4 hrs cleaning it up and resketching bits.

Here it is
