The Mouth

Okay, I guess it's time I went into a little detail about what I'm after.
For about 2 solid years, and out of boredom, I decided to fiddle with a shareware version of PSP 7. It was boring at first, so I went to read a comic or two, I collect some ya see?
After reading Battle Chasers #4, then the collected issues of Topcow's The Darkness, I thought it'd be mildly entertaining to fiddle with those lovely pictures with PSP7. When I got those images up onto the screen after scanning them, and begain to edit, I was hooked. I admitt I was crap the first few hundred tries at it, but eventually I got the hang of editing pictures just as a hobby.
That was two years ago. After mastering the basics, I'm whipping up some rather cool pics. But now even they look bland when I compare them to some of the others my friends on the net can do.
That's why I'm here, to learn from the people who can do such things waaaaaay better than me.
I'm looking for help with the more advanced techniques to editing and even design.
It's a dream of mine, to be the next Joe MAD.
My head is in the clouds at the moment, but with help, I might get close.
Anything would be much appreciated.
