one of the classes offered at school is a visiting designers course. This is a series of 4 or 5 different designers who come to the school and do a 3 part, 3 day class - an open lecture on Thursday nite, a studio class on Friday afternoon, and a studio class most of the day Saturday (and also sometimes Sunday as well.) its amazing because i get to learn in intensive workshop-type environments with big name designers AND still get my 3 credits for the class too :) - plus i get 2 or 3 weeks off inbetween :thumb:
Anyway, i just got the list from the department head for this semesters visiting designers, and i thought id share:
Scott Stowell from Open (http://notclosed.com/), Brooklyn
Michael Carabetta from Chronicle Books (http://www.chroniclebooks.com)
Kathy and Mike McCoy, from High Ground Design (www.highgrounddesign.com), former co-chairs of Cranbrook
Melle Hammer (site) (www.mellehammer.nl) from Holland
and one more mystery guest, i know we had Paula Scher + Michael Beriut from Pentagram (http://www.pentagram.com) slated to come but they had to cancel - that would have been amazing. I am especially looking forward to getting to learn from Scott from Open - i think their work is exceptional. Also since i am falling in love with book design, i am very excited to see Chronicle's Michael Cabretta.
I will be sure and post some pix after each workshop :)
