I took these two shots on different days and with different films.

The Dock

This one is a favorite of mine, it was shot well after sunset and is fairly long exposure, maybe 8-10 seconds. Shot on Fuji Velvia (ISO 50)

The Bridge

Here is the other, shot of the bridge, roughly the same time and atmospheric conditions as the previous, however there are other light sources in here that dont really offer up a comparison to the first pic, but this one was shot on Fuji Provia. Long exposure 20 seconds.

Both are taken pretty much direct from the scan, with only very minor adjustments in levels to compensate so the colors here are fairly true to the original.

Anyways I hope you guys likey. :)

Cheers.

Damn, theyre both beautiful
I love the colors in the sunsets, i wish we had some nice pink sunsets down here. We only get orange ones.

Thanks guys, I am really happy with the shot on the Velvia Roll, something about the color temperature that that I like. :)

I like the second one the best I think it's the look of the water, and the look of the lights on the water.

The first one, while a still good shot, has too much clutter on the dock which you can't quite make out so it's distracting (to my mind).

Sorry to hijack your thread SD with this explanation, but the reason that we have less pink sunsets is that
A; canberra is at a high elevation,
B; We have less pollution being sparsely populated and
C; we are in the southern hemisphere, and hence have less ozone to filter the light.
So we get really white light.
Its a bit of a bummer really

takai: That is very interesting. :) I never realized that it would be so different. Its amazing sometimes what we take for granted.

takai: Haha, so it's a shame there's not enough pollution down there? :P

chris, great shot, I like the dock the most. The colour contrast and mood are great. The dock gives a great sense of depth and dimension. Great stuff.

I'm not as keen on the second though. While I like the depth of field in the shot, the bridge isn't that pretty to me, which obviously isn't your fault. Nonetheless, like the first, I like the mood. :)
