in my browser but I don't have other browsers to check.

So people with browsers other than IE 6 and IE 5/Mac and Safari can you check this layout and see if it works for you.

I should also note that this is NOT the final design or even close I'm just using these colors so I know what the heck I'm doing here.

another note this is my first css layout :)

Here's a rar'd PSD with the screenshots:

You need win rar (http://www.rarlab.com/) to unrar the files.

Good start Ed. Looks cool. My hat is off to you for doing a hybrid CSS layout (I'm working on a full CSS layout for my site. Pain in the ass!)
I tested yours in Mozilla 1.6 for you. Renders fine except that this div shows up as blank white space:

<div id="what" class="tabcontent">
image content
</div>

Hope that helps. :)

yeah I noticed that in some browsers (thanks Bane) but I'm not sure as to how to fix it :/ I'll play around with some settings and see what I can come up with.. I think I have an idea on why it did that but I'm not sure yet.

I just don't know what it is with browsers I went to browsercam.com and tooka screen shot (nice tool). And I was able to fix the tab area by adding a clear tag. But what I don't get is the footer why margin-top doesn't work is there something I need to do or is margin-top not a correct tag?

IE 6 windows - Extends well beyond the right hand side browser window at 800x600 without left and right scroll bars. I would recommend making it fit at 800x600 without the need of scroll bars, but if it is going to go over the edge, scroll bars should be there.
