View Full Version : PHP Newspaper Script?

Hey folks...gotta question.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a PHP script that can be used to manage an online newspaper/magazine? I'm the layout guy for this Neopets hobby site: http://www.illusen.co.uk/gladegazette

I'm in the process of redesigning it (basically same "newspaper" appearance, just a bit snazzier with new features) and I'd like to build it using a CMS that allows me to post articles in different categories on different pages. It can be one-user, or multiple users, doesn't much matter. I would also like to have it styled with xhtml and css (to plug in to the layout I'm designing). Web standards compliance a definite plus. And also image association with the articles and monthly/issue archives. Forgot to mention that integrated random featured articles would be awesome...I'm currently using randex to that effect in the left-hand sidebar (see link below). Is that enough to ask for?! :p

I've looked in the news publication section of hotscripts.com but there really are just too many. It's pretty overwhelming. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, this is the direction the redesign is headed so far:

How urgent is this?

Well, I was looking to implement it within the next week or so. Although it is possible to wait until the next issue for the redesign reveal if need be.

Next issue eh? How soon would that be?
I have to make something like this with a few more features for the college newsletter thing but I have a whole semester to do that ..that's like 2 months more so if you can wait that long, you're welcome to use it :)

We usually put out 1 issue per month...but I could always use something in the meantime while you're creating something that might better fit my needs.

Thanks! :p
