I know I've mentioned in another thread how I might begin a new venture offering web design through a copy center/print shop that my friend just opened up. Well the plans for this have gone ahead recently.
I technically won't be employed by the copy center so I'm in the process of creating my own "corporate identity" so to speak. Trouble is I'm having a very difficult time coming up with a suitable name. I have pages and pages of brainstorming but not really anything I like yet. I'm posting here hoping that you all might have some creative suggestions. :wink3:
Now that I think of it, Venture New Media has a nice ring to it!
I think the name I'm striving for is professional, yet maybe somewhat whimsical, relating to websites, design, art, etc.
I appreciate any help you can offer!

I have always liked the senseless names as oposed tot he ones using the 'media' termin them...but thats a personal thing.
Here are some names of companies I think are cool
Red Canoe
Hangar 18 Creative Group
Bazooka
Rethink
:) All good design companies too BTW

Yes I was thinking of having a name with the word media or pixel(s) in it, but that really is way overdone I've come to realize. But I also don't want people to read the name and be like "huh"?

I would pick a memorable name, and whenever you use it, follow with the tagline "web design"
Like "Trogdor - Web Design", then you have as cool name with that tells people what you do. Eventually every one will know what you do, and you can drop the tagline.

I went thru this same process several months ago and got some great feedback from another form (sd-f.com did not exist at the time).
I like SD's ideas. In the end, I went with a name that means something to me. Being fairly conservative and into fashion as well, I chose Pinstripe Communications. I have many pinstriped pants and shirts...

 (you crack me up Jay :))
I also like the nonsensical, but easy to remember branding approach (think "RazorFish"). These are some name ideas that I thought up while relaxing in a drunken stupor:
Area 13 (place any number here except 51)
BrainDog
Brain 51 (means nothing but reminds you of "Area 51")
SharpTack
LiquidLunch (I've seen a blog with this, but I don't think it's copyrighted)

Thanks for your suggestions everyone! I haven't really gotten any closer to deciding on a name yet, but you have given me some different avenues to think about.
I just want to make sure I'll be completely happy with whatever name I choose.

You could try your birthday. On another forum a guy used his birthday for a company name: one26 (January 26th)
