Well I can't say that I'm more advanced than anyone, but I will give you my honest critique and offer my suggestions.

First off: I love the background. It feels very 60's or 70's to me.

Typography: its ok, but I'd try to change the color(s) to something that better matches the background. Shades of blue or green come to mind.

Overall: There is something that is lacking, but that's ok. Maybe it's not needed here. I would suggest some sort of border to kind of weight (anchor) down the image. Nothing to bold, but something light and purposeful could add soo much to this.

I also have to agree with Chris and takai about finding a good color combo (set) and sticking with it throughout the whole image. This is a great job man.
