Im going to design my tutorial website and need suggestions on the kind of design you like to see for informative sites.

Do you like the stuff centered on the page in a corporate look? The navigation on the top? The side? Do you like to see images placed in paragraph form?

What about color scheme? Dark? Light? Medium?

This is my first draft of the look: http://www.newelysium.com/forum/tut.jpg I might move it to the WIP section if I like the way its headed and keep it.

Depends on what sort of tutorials and what market its targetted to.

For that layout i reckon put a 50px left margin and work left aligned.

Nice layout btw
Images should be in paragraphs, next to the area to which they relate.

yeah with tut sites the tut is the most important thing so the rest of the site should not be distracting. I generally like the info on white bg with the image near or in-line with the descriptions.

Also, put steps. Step 1, 2, etc. So if they need help they can be specific as to which part they are confused on. It'll make it easier for you to help them. Cool, soft, relaxing colors are good. Exciting colors that contrast each other well can work too, they can wake you up a bit. ;)

Ok Ill be sure to put steps down. Also a quick navigator at the top to jump to certain pages like I did in my old tutorials. And Im going to go with a light bg for the content and a medium color for the surroundings.
