Hi guys!
I'm not too familar with the pre-press environment and what those guys @ the printers use. But is Adobe Indesign 2.0 widely used among them now?
A Litho-printer I worked with about 4yrs ago only used pagemaker & Quark.
Would be interesting too know.
Thanks again!! :)

We have used InDesign for over 2 years now.
InDesign can easily export PDFs or EPSs that will work with any program/platform.

Is there any format or lets says a job done in a particular application that a printer will not except?
Also are there any sites or a books perhaps you could recommend that deal with pre-press teaching, I've searched google but couldn't find much?
Much appreciated!! :)

Print Publishing - A Hayden Shop Manual is one of the best resources I have found (other than Freakyclean of course).

Formats printers don't like: Word, Publisher, Powerpoint, Something done totally in Photoshop, Sometimes Corel Draw, Pagemaker is a pain.
Books:
You will find basically two type of books. Ones that deal with the printing process and ones that deal with applications. Not many deal with both. Many of the ones on printing are a little outdated as the technology is changing so fast. The underlying process is pretty much the same though.
Pocket Pal: a graphic arts production handbook
Real World Photoshop/InDesign
Pocket Guide to digital Pre-press
There is "A Guide to Graphic Print Production" listed on Amazon which look pretty good.
I'll check the book case when I get home.
