July 2004 Photo Theme -
I am thinking just about everyone has some sort of buildings around them...so lets see what kind of creative ways we can photograph them, or if you have an interesting structure nearby maybe thats worth posting as well. :)
These can be houses, buildings, bridges, etc....
Be creative!
2 Entries per person.
Have fun folks.

i suppose i'll start it off... its a pic i took while on a bridge... i saw it and was like oooooo. I still have to do some more hunting but its a start, let me know what you think.
P.S. i do not have an infatuation with street lights... it just happens... i swear.

It's a good theme, just kind of broad...
A more specific theme next time around would allow people to focus/concentrate their efforts on something that is more concrete to shoot. Personally, I don't know where to start with this theme...I'm sort of at a loss as to where to begin...
Then again, it makes it more challenging and allows for more interpretation.

You see i found that making themes too specific was a problem...people wanted more freedom...but what you say does make sense for this one....
I guess i didnt want anyone who lived in rural areas to have to travel to take pics of office buildings etc...
Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

Personnly myself- I believe this is a good theme Chris....I am often out walking with my dog, and for me there are a lot of old and new buildings out there to be snapped.
So the challenge is there and I like the Idea......

I think this is a very good theme as well. It is a bit on the broad side, but thats the beauty of it, you never know what someone might submit. Since joining this forum I've been lurkin' around reading other postings and viewing submissions, but I think it's about time I get off my butt and become an active and contributing member to ths forum. I like shooting photography and I should be recieving my new dslr (the new D70) within the next week, so I figure this is should be a good oportunity to get my feet wet. That is, of course, unless and my photographs suck! :)

I think it should be ok as long as there is a some sort of building in the frame.
Even a barn.
As far as the theme being broad I think that could be more challenging.
That way your not "told" exactly what to do and you can interpret it any way you want.

I know, I can't wait to get the camera! I ordered it on June 20th and it's still backordered! :furious3: I was hoping that I would have it by the time I head back to class, but unfortunately that ain't gonna happen considering my first day is tomorrow. Oh well.

Am I the only one taking part this month or what?
Here's my second entry:

Simple and some of the lines aren't parallel with the borders, I have adjusted the best I could. I think I kind of like it not being perfect. Makes it more interesting to look at.
Hey, it's all about taking part. :grin2:

I noticed not everyone is submitting 2 entries. So if the playing field needs to be evened out, I'd prefer my first photo be considered. :)

Okay all the entries were excellent, and i am not just saying that, we have a wide varriety of stuff here. Some creating angles from Freaky, an interesting framing from Haumovie, some nice BW from alda, some interesting line interpretation from Kriegs and Marty. Scotty damn near took the prize this month with his light house, the only problem was the flash on the nearby tree...so without further adoooooo the winner this month and only by a whisker is:
