Well here it is folks, 16 MP of digital goodness.

One of few digital cameras that is acceptable for stockphoto agencies and the only 35mm one as far as I know (though the 14MP kodaks may be as well).

3300 by 5000 pixel images or 11x17 at 300dpi.

oh and check out the wireless adaptor too.

For Nikon users it should be noted that the D2X was released last week with a 12 MP resolution and has some interesting features.

The Nikon still uses a DX size (1.5 crop) sensor while the 1Ds MKII keeps the full frame sensor size of the 1Ds. Both are now using CMOS sensors.

Very affordable.
I want full frame but not for $8000.

You could get the Phase One P20 medium format back which is also 16MP for $16,900US then. :cheeky:

The Kodak full frame is cheaper, but also IMHO a lot poorer camera in both features and image quality.

I would love to get my hands on those!!

I'll wait till 10 years for now then it reach the price for $25.00 at Big Lots, lol.

For now, I am happy with my Canon Powershot S50. Although..I am looking the new Canon PowerShot S70. Nice. But it does have a long way to go.

I was looking into some of those Kodak cameras but they were way out of my price range, plus some reviews were not that great either.

Well the whole MP thing will slow down pretty soon as they running into many problems.

1. Lenses can't resolve that much detail

2. Files are getting huge (98MB for a 24bit 16MP file)

3. Consumer Demand

Consumers really don't have a demand for much more than a 8 MP camera. They are not making 20x30 prints or printing offset so other than the photo geeks, the drive will fall out of the market. There will always be bigger and better things, but it will slow down. The other negative aspect is that to get twice the resolution you need 4 times the file space.

I think the way the market will focus (which it already has) is better quality and smaller digicams. Many digicams still produce that "digital" picture look.

The only thing I'm looking forward to is full frame DSLR. Affordable ones.
I just got Sigma 15mm Fisheye and it looks awesome on my 35mm camera but on 10D the effect is relatively less significant. I do like the crop (crap) factor for large zoom lenses such as 300mm.

They do puch that MP thing a bit too far.
There are cameras outthere like some newer Sony models that can do 8 or 9 MP but you know that images out that thing cannot be compared to 6MP DSLR.
My girlfriends mom just got some crappy Sony 5MP thing that captures VERY BAD images.
