Hide source code -
Is there anyway of hiding your web page source code from the average viewer? Dumb question I know, but I had to ask it.

For stupid people you can use frames and disable right clicking. That way even if they do the "view>source" thing in their menu all they will get is the frame sources, they most likely wont figure out that they would have to copy and paste the url within the frame src to do the "view>source" thing again. But no rightclicking is annoying.

And using framesets is a heavy price to pay to hide your source code.
Don't get me wrong, frames aren't completely evil, but they're not search-engine friendly and bring their own headaches to the party.
You'll have to put the <!--if(top==self)self.location.href="index.html"//--> script on the pages of the framesets and <noframes> tags etc...
With CSS and JavaScript, you can do this:
<script language="JavaScript" src='scripts.js'></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css" >
so as the scripts exist on their own pages as text files. That confuses the noobs at least.
But the thing is that HTML is meant to be open source.
I guess that's where Flash may have a little advantage.

Alot of the sites I design now are 'dynamic' or come from db generated pages, so you can copy the HTML if you want but the mechanics behind it are protected and invisible to the viewer because they generate the page dynamically and it looks like any other HTML page.

Obviously your question has been answered but I have to ask on question. Why would you want to hide your code. I love to be able to go to a site see some new javascript that I think can be useful and adapt it for my personal use. And if it's just HTML code your hiding why bother? HTML is the easiest damn thing to learn in this entire world.

Good point...
One thing that I constantly get emails about is my source code at dubtastic.com. At the top of the page I have 2 commented lines and nothing else... However, if you scroll down a page or 2 you will see it all there, in a big ole mess that it is. I guess people click on view source and do not think to scroll. :)

I guess I was just more curious than anything.
Dubtastic: That is a clever little idea. :D

I don't get it, they spam by reviving old threads?

well they are out to push their product and so they do searches on the internet most likely looking for places of interest or places that are in discussion about stuff their product handles and they pull up these old threads from the archive in their searches, it happens quite often, and pisses me off to no end.

One way, to "hide source code", is to not publish your website. When I am navigating at your website, that site is automatically downloaded to my PC.

This is the thread that never ends,
it just goes on and on my friend,
some people started posting it,
not knowing what it was,
and they'll continue posting forever just because,
