Just wanted to say hello to all of you guys out there. I've always browsed these boards. Today I finally decided to register. :grin2:
BTW, if anyone can can help with this question I have, I would greatly appreciate it.
I am trying to scan pressed and live flowers. I have the resolution at 1200 dpi(highest), but they come out really really grainy like they were scanned lower. If anyone here has scanned like fluid, flowers, flower petals, feathers, anything of that sort, please give me some advise.

I've scanned some maple leaves before and they turned out really good.
All of those images are on my broken PC so I can't post them :(
As far as advise goes I really don't have any.
I just made sure that I press on the cover firmly.

TY for the replies. I have decided after many tries to go ahead and halt that project for now. On to better things I guess.

Welcome.
What kind of scanner are you using and what software?
Try using Vuescan from www.hamrick.com, you can download a demo, it works with most good scanners.
Have you tried a lower DPI like 400 or 600?
Do you have descreening turned on?

I've heard that placing aluminum foil, dull side down, can give you interesting results when scanning wierd things.
Never done it myself though.
