Need an easy way to make columns or divide shapes?
Use the blend tool
Daw a line on either side of the area to be divided then double-click on the blend tool.
Set it to specified steps and enter value:1 for two columns or 2 for three, and so on)
Click on the same end (top and top or right and right) of each line segment and you will get your columns.
From there you can either expand the blend and ungroup to stretch the segments or otherwise manipulate or you can use the lines to drop in guides.
This method is usefull for dividing wierd sizes into columns.
You can also use this method to make tables it's not as fast as word but it's press friendly.
If you leave the blend intact (don't expand) then you can still edit it and all the segments will be updated automatically.
If you are making a table make sure the line segments are the same length and aligned - you will see why.
