painted in psCS, no ref
1925x3078px

pol135a - military classification - defence specialist, mild mannered species, but give him a gun...

experimenting more with technique rather than subject matter lately, getting back to what i like, starting to get the hang of using custom brushes to better effect instead of them overpowering the image

Wow, I don't know how you guys paint, it always amazes me. This is really well done, I love the concept and the lighting. They way he kind of fades into the shadow creates a great effect. The arm puzzles me, but that’s artist prerogative, art would be boring if I understood it all. Well done.

This is brillant! The colours you have used help project a certain dark mood to the image..I think what I have said makes sence :p

Good Job :grin2:

Very tight. Love the colors and lighting. I agree nthe arm thing but its still cool. Like u said your ar more concerned about technique than subject at this point.

there is a bit of space at the top that might be cropped tighter unless you are planning on Text or something else there. I cant determine whether that space helps or hurts the composition.

How many hours you have into this one?

Nice work monk, keep em coming.

thanks guys, the arm thing is a big ass lobstergun (was easier on the eye before i cropped it, the speedie version), and yep, that space bothered me a ltitle, it looks a little better flipped horizontally but i couldn't think of a way of filling it up (the lightsource would have been lost if you couldn't see the top line of darkness) but i might shave half an inch off for a print version, this was about 8-10hrs over 3 nights, i might possibly extend him so you can see the whole gun and his legs but that's one of the things that will be put off for a while

I dont know if Iwouldbother todo any more to this...with the exception the top i think its cropped quite nicely, and as I look at it more the mystery of the arm thing is part of the charm.
