Hi,

I was following your awesome digital colouring tut. but i have one rather annoying problem with the end result. It will not let me apply the line art channel to the image. When i go to the image ---> apply image, i get the exact settings that you show on the screen shot, but when i hit ok, it seems to perhaps apply but then if I attempt to save the file as a jpeg or even as a .psd and the channel is not applied. If i delete that channel the line art dissappears. Now i admit its a unique looking image without any black outlines...but not exactly the asthetic i was attempting :)

any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Its really stumped me... (prolly something really dumb too)

This is not a dumb question at all, in fact its the single most common problem withmy tutorial.

Now if the settings are the same as mine it should in theory work ;) I have never had a problem with it, but it seems some how some where something is happening to peoples work and are encountering that problem. The channel must be line art, and the mode set to multiply and the layer must be the background layer (the one with all the rendering. You will know you have successfully completed it when you apply it and then when you delete the lineart channel the lne art still appears to be there.

So here is a quick and just as effective method for applying the line art..infact I may change the tut to use this method:

Instead of applying the lineart channel ctrl+click the line art channel to bring up its selection...then remove the channel. With the selection still active click on the rgb channel then fill with black.....voila.

Hope that works for you, please let me know. :)

ya, that did work. As long as you inverse the selection then just alt+backspace the black....

only problem is the line art gets a lil jaggy so i'll prolly need to go back in a touch some stuff up, but its better then re-drawing it all.

heres the pic... its not exactly done... but you can see what i mean about the jaggies.

:) thanks for the help, you have an awesome site.
